Collagen Gummies for Women Over 40: An Easy Addition to Your Beauty Routine?

An Easy Addition to Your Beauty Routine After 40

Can a daily gummy really support your hair, skin and nails? We took a closer look at this easy beauty find.

Once we reach our 40s and beyond, it’s hard to miss how often collagen appears in conversations about aging skin. Powders, drinks, capsules and gummies are everywhere—and if you’ve been looking for an option that doesn’t involve adding another scoop of powder to your morning routine, we found one that caught our attention.

Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails + Collagen Gummies combine collagen with a substantial amount of biotin, plus vitamins C and E, in an easy tropical-citrus gummy.

But before adding them to your beauty routine, there’s something worth knowing: not all collagen supplements provide the same amount of collagen.

Why Collagen Gets So Much Attention After 40

Collagen is a structural protein found naturally throughout the body, including in our skin. That helps explain why collagen supplements have become such a popular part of the conversation around skin care and healthy aging.

Research, however, isn’t completely settled.

Some reviews of randomized trials have reported improvements in skin hydration and elasticity with oral collagen supplementation. One recent review found studied doses generally ranged from 1 to 10 grams per day, with 4 grams being the most common dose.

Another 2025 meta-analysis reached a more cautious conclusion. Although the combined studies initially showed improvements in hydration, elasticity and wrinkles, those benefits disappeared when researchers looked specifically at higher-quality studies and studies without pharmaceutical-company funding.

So we wouldn’t describe collagen as an anti-aging miracle. It’s better viewed as one optional part of a broader beauty and wellness routine.

Our Great Find: Collagen in a Gummy

What caught our eye about these Nature’s Bounty gummies is convenience.

According to the current product information, a serving of two gummies provides:

  • 100 mg collagen
  • 2,500 mcg biotin
  • 15 mg vitamin C
  • 6.75 mg vitamin E
  • Tropical citrus flavor

Nature’s Bounty directs adults to chew two gummies daily, preferably with a meal.

That’s certainly easier than mixing a powder—which could make the gummies appealing if simplicity is what helps you stay consistent.

But How Much Collagen Is 100 mg?

This is the detail we think women should notice.

100 mg of collagen equals 0.1 gram.

That’s considerably less than the gram-level doses commonly examined in clinical studies of oral collagen and skin. For example, one recent systematic review evaluated studies using 1–10 grams per day.

That doesn’t mean the gummies have no value. It simply means we wouldn’t assume that research involving several grams of collagen applies directly to a product containing 0.1 gram per serving.

For Baylen Lane, that’s an important distinction.

What About Biotin for Hair and Fingernails?

This formula also provides 2,500 mcg of biotin per two-gummy serving, which is one of the product’s more prominent nutrients.

Biotin is an essential nutrient, and deficiency can cause symptoms that include thinning hair and brittle nails. But biotin deficiency is rare in the United States, and the National Institutes of Health says there is little scientific evidence that biotin supplements improve hair, skin or nails in people who aren’t deficient. A few small studies have reported harder nails among some people with thin or brittle nails taking high-dose biotin.

In other words, biotin is important for normal health—but taking more isn’t automatically synonymous with stronger nails or thicker hair.

That’s another reason we prefer looking beyond the front of the bottle.

Don’t Overlook Vitamins C and E

There are two additional nutrients in these gummies that don’t get as much attention.

The formula contains vitamins C and E. Vitamin C has a role in the body’s normal collagen production, while vitamin E functions as an antioxidant.

We like seeing the complete ingredient profile rather than thinking of this strictly as a collagen gummy.

One More Thing to Know: They’re Still Gummies

Convenience comes with a trade-off.

A two-gummy serving contains 2 grams of added sugar and 15 calories, according to the current Nature’s Bounty supplement facts.

That’s not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it’s worth knowing—particularly if you’re comparing gummies with an unsweetened powder or capsule.

So, Are Collagen Gummies Worth Trying After 40?

We think the answer depends on what you’re expecting from them.

If you’re looking for an easy beauty supplement containing collagen, biotin and vitamins C and E, the gummy format is undeniably convenient.

If your primary goal is specifically to take collagen at quantities similar to those used in clinical research, however, we’d compare the collagen amount carefully before choosing a product. 100 mg sounds substantial on a label, but it equals only 0.1 gram.

And that’s exactly why reading the supplement facts matters.

For us, this Nature’s Bounty find is less about chasing a miracle anti-aging product and more about finding simple additions that can fit realistically into a beauty and wellness routine after 40.

The Baylen Lane Take

We love an easy beauty find—but we also want to know what’s actually inside it.

These gummies offer an appealing combination of convenience, tropical citrus flavor, biotin and several other nutrients. The 100 mg of collagen per serving is worth putting into perspective, though, particularly when comparing it with dedicated collagen supplements containing collagen by the gram.

Because beauty after 40 isn’t about finding one magic ingredient. It’s about making informed choices—and choosing routines we’re actually likely to maintain.
